We started this morning with a sound check at Little Rock’s Second Baptist Church. We have some unique connections with this great church. Casey and the pastor, Preston Clegg are good friends, having served together at First Baptist Church, Bruceville along with former FBC member Lillian Hinds. Charlie Fuller, Minister of Congregational Life, is my choral director with the Centurymen.
The kids did Sunday morning bible study with the students there this morning. As part of the time, they were to make a children’s picture book on the first chapter of the book of Ruth. It was informative and lots of fun! See pictures. Worship was wonderful!
After lunch at the church, we made our way to North Little Rock, which is across the Arkansas River. There we sang at Fox Ridge Assisted Living. We sang at this center on our previous trip to Arkansas in 2008. Unknown to me, Charlie Fuller’s mother is a resident, so we got to spend time with him there too!
After a little rest time at the hotel, we made our way to the Nehemiah House. This is a typical, gospel rescue mission type ministry for men. The kids did a wonderful job of ministry there and some of the men prayed with and for them after the concert. While Hands Held High was ministering, I was at the back of the room watching. One of the men looked up at me and asked, “what did you do to get such a wonderful group of kids?” I simply replied, “I am a blessed man”. Indeed!
We had a late supper at a shopping center in North Little Rock. Several of us were in 5 Guys when Pat White, one of our preschool teachers at FBC, Tyler, walked in. We took a picture with several of her former students at FBC, of course. Talk about a serendipity! She was on her way back to Tyler from St. Louis and just pulled into our restaurant.
Thanks for your prayers. Hoping and praying for a wonderful day tomorrow. Thanks for your great kids!!!
Peace and love,
